FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our travel humidor FAQ answers the most common questions about Fog Box products, including cigar storage, humidity, hydro-dipped finishes, product care, customization and more. Whether you’re choosing your first Fog Box or already own one, you’ll find helpful answers below.

Hydro graphics use a water-transfer film designed specifically for complex surfaces, not flat panels like vinyl wraps. This allows the artwork to conform to recessed areas, edges, and contours of a travel humidor case. After application, the finish is sealed with automotive-grade clear coat for long-term durability, scratch resistance, and a premium look that lasts.

A travel humidor is a portable storage case designed to maintain proper humidity levels so cigars stay fresh while you’re on the move. Fog Box travel humidors use airtight sealing, humidity devices, and protective foam organization to regulate moisture and protect cigars from physical damage. This makes them ideal for golf trips, lounges, boating, or everyday carry.

Style is only half the story. Fog Box travel humidors are built to perform with:

  • Airtight sealing

  • Humidity control systems

  • Protective foam storage

  • Durable hard-case construction

They deliver premium cigar protection whether you’re traveling, golfing, boating, or relaxing at the lounge.

The artwork isn’t printed — it’s hand-applied through hydrographic dipping. The film is floated on water, activated, and transferred onto the case surface. Hard cases are especially challenging due to recessed geometry, requiring experience and precision. Each piece is individually finished by skilled technicians, making every humidor a functional piece of art.

Hydro dipping creates a unique transfer every time. Because the film pattern is larger than the case, the contact point varies slightly during dipping. This ensures each hydro dipped humidor is one-of-a-kind: no two Fog Boxes are identical.

The clear-coated surface is extremely durable. Normal handling won’t damage the artwork.

For best care:

  • Wipe with microfiber cloth

  • Use light automotive detail spray if desired

  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight exposure

Your hydro dipped travel humidor is built to be used, not babied.

Our humidors seal watertight, so moisture has a hard time escaping unless you are opening it a lot. That being said, cigars like 70% humidity. The more cigars in your Fog Box, the more humidifying you need. Here are steps you can take to keep your cigars from becoming too dry or too moist.

  1. If using our cedar tray upgrades, it’s important to follow the included instructions to season the trays before use.
  2. Keep your included humidity device filled with distilled water or glycol solution. On hot days, daily filling may be necessary.
  3. It’s a good idea to keep your box out of direct sunlight as much as possible.
  4. Use extra humidity packs as a backup to help on extra hot days.

When properly maintained, cigars can stay fresh in a sealed travel humidor for weeks or even months. Consistent humidity levels around 65–72% are key. Keeping your humidification device filled and minimizing unnecessary opening will extend freshness. Using Spanish cedar trays or humidity packs further stabilizes the environment.

The best size depends on how you use your cigars:

  • Small: Quick outings or daily carry

  • Medium: Weekend trips or sharing

  • Large: Events, travel, or extended storage
